"Girl's Night Out"....'N2God Store' joined 'Sally Sings' at very fun shopping event!

Our friend Cheryl took this photo of Sally and I. Sally is holding one of her Cd's
& I with the  large 'Message in a bottle'.

"Ladies Night Out" was a load of fun and a lot of ladies! It was awesome to accept Sally's invite. "Thank you Sally Joy!" All the vendors and shoppers were great and they even served wine. One cup was my limit and at our table Sally shared a Christmas plate of her famous recipe for  'fudge'. We had a N2God special...an array of assorted religious prints ~ for $5.00 each. The special continues all through November and December and we have many beautiful prints to choose from. Aren't they pretty posted in the back ground?

This week I created four messages in a bottle! I was so excited because this has been on my mind for months and months. Sally's invite to "Girl's Night Out" was a motivating factor.
Of course it would be fabulous to say that they were all purchased however...they weren't. and I didn't mind. They are so special. It's one of those things I need to take time to explain.
Two bottles contained messages of 'Love' and the other two 'Faith'. Envelopes with a copy of the messages enclosed are included along with cute bottle gift sacks with little angles. There will be a new post created this coming week on http://www.bloominginkansas.blogspot.com/ to show & tell, so that you can create some of your own. Wouldn't a love letter to your husband be fun? I'm going to make one and since my husband doesn't normally read my blog spots...it'll be a romantic surprise.

These two bottles I created found new homes.
They contain 'Holy water from Lourdes France' and scented with lavender.

I delight watching people discovered some of my sweet ideas. It is time for me to share that big bottle of Lourdes Holy water that has been in my closet since my pilgrimage to Lourdes France in 2003don't you think? That was one of the most amazing travels in my life. I LOVE the saints and am inspired by how they lived and loved.

My husband was fantastic helping me get the signs, calling cards and prints ready.
I am so blessed and I have a thankful heart.
My old vintage rusted basket was one of the few items not religious. I think some shoppers may have wondered 'why an old basket?' I would answer "I like old stuff!"

My favorite message in the bottle! I missed getting the awesome angel on the cork. It is sealed with wax...just like the sailors did back then....

God's beautiful holy cards with prayers sold well.
Thank you God for blessing 'Sally Sings' and 'N2God Store!'
Girl's night out was fun! My favorite thing was seeing and talking to friends...especially the ones I haven't seen for long time. God is so good to me.

Today and always please remember to pray for the fogotten dead

Prayer for The Forgotten Dead

O Merciful God, take pity on those souls who have no particular friends and intercessors to recommend them to Thee; those who through the negligence of the loving or through length of time are forgotten by their friends and by all. Spare them, compassionate Lord, and remember thine own mercy, when others forget to appeal to it. Let not the souls which Thou hast created by parted from thee, their Creator. They are the work and, though they have sinned, they have been redeemed by thee. Vouchsafe, therefore, to look upon them and to deliver them from the intolerable pain of absence from Thee, the light and love of all thy creatures. Oh, place them in the number of they blessed Saints and citizens through Jesus Christ, their Savior. Amen.

Happy All Saints Day! November 1, 2011

It is wonderful to have the joy of Jesus today celebrating Holy Mass on this special day. Today I reflected on what it 'really' means to be stwant2be.
I have been blessed...I know who I am in Christ and there is everything right with that. I'm certainly NOT perfect, far from it. The good news is that I'm a 'work in progress' and God isn't finished with us yet.

To be stwant2be means doing my best to trust God in all things at all times...without excuses.
To be stwant2be is helping my spouse, children and grandchildren strive in the direction of Heaven.
To be stwant2be is to believe the best in everyone and try not to make excuses.
To be stwant2be is believing in the promises of Holy Scripture and proclaiming them.
To be stwant2be is having a grateful heart and showing appreciation at every opportunity.
To be stwant2be is interrupting Satan's plans every chance I have. Such a loser!
To be stwant2be is trying to stop being self focused, envious and selfish.
To be stwant2be is knowing there is joy in suffering. There is glory in the Cross.
To be stwant2be is being quick to forgive and not be so easily offended.
To be stwant2be is to encourage others not to give up.
To be stwant2be is believing in the power of prayer.
To be stwant2be is not just attending church but 'being' Church.
To be stwant2be is continually calling on the intercession of Mary Most Holy and all the Saints, studying their lives and knowing they have paved the way for us to follow.

Crafting 'Angels in August' memories

We see you Amy! (Kim and I)

   It's so nice to get back to blogging. I've looked forward to sharing the day we created our 'Cute as a button' Angels pins. Unfortunately the three photos I took of some adorable button pins just won't load up! Every one's pins turned out so sweet...better than mine for sure. More than anything...I LOVED the company of everyone!
Sunshine, hubby and me.
All smiles with our buttons, beads.

Our friend Kim's first visit to the store. Kim is awesome!
The N2God store front.
What a great picture!
   We had a great day and lots of fun. More than anything I enjoyed watching every one's creative juices flow. Thanks everyone for coming and I hope that you will come again soon. Wish I had taken more photos...blessed that Amy sent me these. The store had a little flair of Christmas...so much fun hanging my snow men Christmas lights up and decorating my little tree with my 'Count down to Christmas matchboxes!' A special thanks to Becky...she always goes out of her way and brought a box of bling...jewelry...pins...beads and other fun stuff. And Kim....she's amazing...shared an extension cord and brought a box of glue guns and sticks for now and later. So blessed!! Thanks to everyone for coming. I count my blessings that this my 2nd craft class was a 'successlful day of fun'. We didn't even make the wooden angel ornaments as the button art kept every one's attention all morning.

    Late in the afternoon Amy, Kim and I went antiquing to Delano Antique Mall. My feet were so tired by the end of the day, I could hardly walk. I think about the art in 'the ladies room' at the store...it reads...'When I get tired of shopping, I try on shoes'. LOL.

   I hope everyone is having a fantastic 'Labor Day' weekend. Please stop in for a visit on a Saturday soon for a visit and cup of tea. We would like that!!

'Our Lady of Mount Carmel'

Prayer

     O beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine, Splendor of Heaven, holy and singular, who brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining a Pure Virgin, assist me in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help and protect me! Show me that Thou are my Mother.

O Mary, Conceived without sin, Pray for us who have recourse to thee!
Mother and Ornament of Carmel, Pray for us!
Virgin, Flower of Carmel, Pray for us!
Partroness of all who wear the Scapular. Pray for us!
Hope of all who die wearing the Scapular, Pray for us!
St. Joseph, Friend of the Sacred heart, Pray for us!
St. Joseph, Chaste Spouse of Mary, Pray for us!
St. Joseph, Our Patron, Pray for us!
O Sweet Heart of Mary, Be our Salvation!

Please stop by the N2God Store today if you can brave the very hot temp! Today friends and I are celebrating Our Lady of Mount Carmel. I have something 'special' for you. Can you guess what? BSOL (big smile out loud)
 ~~~
From a pamphlet from an organization called 'The Blue Army of Our Lady'-
Attach great importance to your Brown Scapular of Our Lady.
Our Lady gave her Scapular as a sign of salvation, a protection in danger, and a pledge of peace. The cloth Scapular must be born over the shoulders, one piece in front, one in back.
For 700+ years devout Catholics have worn the Scapular, the Popes have approved and indulgenced its wears, miracles have proclaimed its power.
Scapular-wearers share in the daily prayers of the Carmelite Order and the world-wide good works of the Scapular Confraternity.
A Prayer for July -William Penn (1644-1718)
O Lord,
help me not to despise
or oppose
what I do not understand.
-William Penn (1644-1718)
A Quaker and outspoken defender of religious freedom; William Penn was repeatedly imprisoned in England for his beliefs. When he received a grant of land in America as payment for a dept King Charles II owed his father, Penn sailed to the New World, where he sought to start a refuge for the religiously persecuted. His plan was for the settlers to be guided by the Sermon on the Mount. The colony, founded in 1681, was called Pennsylvania ("Penn's Woods") in honor of his father.
Whirl winds and the River Festival fun!
Three blocks in this direction is the Little Arkansas River,
where all the Festival fun is staged.
When you see a red heart apron hanging on the front door...2nd Street.
You've found me.
A few days ago, more dresses were added.
They are unique!
You may have noticed...the shelves are full of interesting finds.
My husband was awesome, fixing an old phone. I will try to add a photo of it sometime soon.
 Are you having a fantastic summertime? Lately life in Kansas has been like a whirlwind for me. Yesterday was the 13th day for the N2God Store to be open. We are open most Saturdays and business is beginning to pick up...a little. We are very thankful for everyone that visits the store. Our location is a little hard to find and I'm delighted when people return to take that 2nd look at an item or just want to visit. I've had some inspiring conversations about faith. I love this! I believe we have much to learn from one another and the N2God Store welcomes all faiths. There will always be diversity.  There are wonderful blessings for those who take time to embrace differences for others with kindness and understanding.
The Wichita River Festival began on Friday June 3rd. That fun is only three blocks East of the N2God Store. I created the paper flag to hang in front of the store. I'm not sure how long it will last...it is so pretty. We sat out heavy items that would stay anchored. Whirl winds...oh yeah! Some real nice people stopped in, a few to just cool off. I got a kick when I learned the festival offered a 'Toddler Run' for one of the events and it was going on this particular Saturday. Families together having a good time, that's what Saturdays were made for.
Some weeks back I decided to hang some 'Vintage' and dated dresses in the East window. Nothing was happening there. It has created some interest as I'm pairing the outfits up with shoes and 'Vintage' jewelry that was tucked away. Yesterday, after hours I worked hard with the window dresses...cleaning and chasing the cob webs trying to make their homes in those very hard to reach places. Old buildings can really be a pain as the plastered walls 'left unpainted' continue to deteriorate...I sweep up the sand on a regular basis.
My biggest effort was preparing the wedding dress to rehang. Last week I bought a wonderful 'brand new' 'huge ballroom?' dress slip at my favorite elite store. It is more that perfect for the wedding gown. What a deal it was $2.98. I don't like saying it but I will...what a deal, what a steal. The wedding dress is now a dreamy display. The tinkle lights...maybe added later. Something worth waiting for I promise! The wedding dress has caught the eye of one of my friends...we'll see.
Hope you have a great weekend! If you're in town...stop by for a cup of tea.
If we were more willing to see the good and the beautiful things that surround us...
'We too often focus only on the negative aspect of life. If we were more willing to see the good and the beautiful things that surround us, we would be able to transform our families. From there, we would change our next-door neighbors and then others who live in our neighborhood or city. We would be able to bring peace and love to our world which hungers so much for these things.'
Girl's day in...one Saturday in February
A morning smile...spending the day with someone very special!
So much to choose from!
'It was a girl's day in...this Saturday in February'
This Saturday in February was certainly a 'girls day in' at the N2God Store. It was way too cold to be out doors doing ANYTHING and I guess that included out shopping too because the store was very quiet again. I know God is going to bring the visitors in....I just have to be patient and stop wondering 'When God when?'
A couple of us dived into a 'brand new to us' art craft called altered books and purses. Amy made the most incredibly cute altered purse from a red old hard back book. It turned out cuter than the dickens and she completed it in one day. I was told we may see and hear more about her creation a little later...
Important update: Unfortunately there wasn't enough interest to have the 'Make an altered book crafting classes' on April 9 and 16 at the store. I'm sorry. Maybe later. I'm one who is quite intrigued with this art expression and my full book shelves are are giving me fresh ideas to alter them. Yep, I'll be having fun with this craft for years to come.
On this day I worked on my first altered book which is titled 'Patty goes to Roma'. Remember the old movie, Giget goes to Rome? The hardback book I found had the just right title 'Little bits of tastes of Italy'....how perfect is that? ...bsol (big smile out loud) because my trip to Roma was 2 and 1/2 days total. It was the MOST amazing time with my two favorite guys in the world.  I LOVE Roma and I pray I'll have a chance to return and stay at least a very long....10 days. Now that would be Heavenly wouldn't it?
For now, I'm off to plan B tending to another project at the store. Fun? I'm not sure yet. We'll be open 3 Saturdays this month; April 9th, 16th and 30th. If you're in the neighborhood, please stop by for a visit and a 'hot' cup of tea. It's a happy blessing place. Thanks for your support.
Have a great weekend!
'Let's Make an Altered Book crafting classes' April 9 & 16 in "The Keeping Room"
‘Let’s Make an Altered Book crafting classes’
N2God Store’s “The Keeping Room”
April 9th and 16th 2011 (2 consecutive Saturdays)
813 W. Second ~ Wichita
Time 2 - 4 pm
To sign up please e-mail stwant2be@aol.com before April 6, 2011.
My somewhat short ‘How to Make an Altered Book crafting class’ presentation will begin at 2. You won’t want to miss the ideas I will be sharing so please don’t be late. You may be as fascinated as I am about this art expression. In a ‘nut shell’ your altered book will be a ‘One of a kind’ memory book authored by you. Truly a priceless family keepsake!
What to bring April 9th ~ One medium sized hard back book in good shape (with a title that speaks to you’re the artist side of your brain) and theme idea for your book. At this first class I will help you make a layout getting your book pages ready for altering/crafting at 2nd class April 16. Your assignment now (before the class) is to hunt through your home library or go ‘thrifting’ for a book with a title you really like and the theme for altered book.
(My first altered book is called ‘Patty goes to Roma’ created from a cook booked called ‘Small bites of Italy’. This was the just right title for my 1st altered memory book about my once of a lifetime trip to Rome ‘thus far’ that was only 2 ½ days). It is SO neat. In my photo are a few books for future altering/crafting.
What to bring April 16th ~ that sack/pile of Photos that you’ve been planning to put in memory book, tiny trinkets, receipt plane tickets, small pieces of favorite fabrics, ribbon and lace, small game pieces, journal notes, cards and/or art, special tiny mementos or old pieces of vintage jewelry that relate/go with the ‘Memory altered book ‘you will be crafting. I'm sure you have unique items I didn't mention...great!
Have a girl’s get-a-way…invite a friend! Of course this class is open to guys also. Parking is available in front of store on 2nd Street. Please e-mail me if you have any questions. I’m here and will be there to help. Space is limited…sign up early if you can. Maybe your book can be an Easter gift to yourself or someone very special. We’re going to have fun! Tasty snacks and drinks will be ready for you to enjoy in our little Tea Room and the N2God store is open both Saturdays. You’ll want to browse and check out new/old items offered for sale.
Cost is $10 (for the 2 Saturday classes April 9 & 16) total of 4 creative fun hours ~ in your own work place. Please pay at arrival April 9th. Thank you in advance!
Blessed,
Patty in Oz
"The Keeping Room" filled with bunches of fun all Saturday afternoon!
Angel food cup cakes, chex mix, hot coco and teas ready for the artists
The Scrapbook/Card  Workshop 101 was so much fun however...I can't refer to it as a workshop because all of the ladies knew what they were doing...and GOOD at it too! I learned watching them and liked watching them help one another. One of the things I learned is that the colors red and turquoise look good together! We enjoyed some of my friend's 'Sally sings' CDs and one another's company the whole afternoon. An extra blessing for me was a surprise visit and from a friend who came into the store who I haven't seen for ages.
One of my friends brought her young son and it was a 'hoot' watching the two of them scrap book a Halloween Memory page which turned out Spooktactular! I did get some words and phrases for some of the different topics for cards & memory pages and unfortunately they were buried under other art I prepared. Oh well...I guess I'll be set for the next year's 'St. Valentine's Day'.
The day was blessed with sunshine and I didn't hear one complaint about the huge piles of snow on the street in front of the store. Everyone said 'We just walked around it'.
The very best part of my day was visiting with friends and hearing all about their memories and these ladies had some amazing creating ideas. To mention a few...Becky using golden threads for the wheat she remembered as a child growing up in the country. Pamela...a bag of maps....memories...and that great big cute Mickey Mouse plastic rain coat she saved from Walt Disney World I believe. So interesting!
My heart felt thanks to all who came. May the love you put into your cards and memory pages...come back to you on St. Valentine's day.
(Hope to include some neat pictures soon)
Inspiration from -Leo Buscaglia
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring...all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
-Leo Buscaglia
Saturday, January 22nd was the 2nd day the N2God Store was open. Two of our favorite friends stopped by and delighted us with their company for a long visit. I'm sitting here smiling (a little bit nervously...just a bit...) because they were the only ones who stopped in all day. I know you must be thinking "WHAT?" Unfortunately good advertising is too expensive right now and being physically tired didn't help anything as friends asked me during last week about our new venture. Oh rest assure, I am excited...I was just way too tired to 'talk it up'. Our store is open 'Most Saturdays' and in January only two. OK...I'll stop with the excuses...I need to work harder! The real reason of this post is to share that when I came across Leo's words this morning...I was instantly reminded of our two favorite friends who came by that store and my heart is grateful for them.
More reasons why...
During our visit my friend inspired me to pursue some ideas I'm considering and she even shared her own idea to help me...that is the power of caring! When I read L.B.'s inspiration early this morning, I reminded God "Lord, this is what I wanted to do on Saturday with a stranger you bring us." He (the Lord) reminded me that this is exactly what He did for me on Saturday. I guess you could even say "He showed and told". I love when He does that! It was one of His surprises for me after 8am Mass.  Fr. Kline's Homily was wonderful! Father talked about the dignity of human beings and prayed for full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life. God works in the most beautiful ways and people too!
Let us all remember that the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring...all have the potential to turn a life around! Yes, could even save some one's life. May God bless Leo Buscaglia for the gift of his inspiring words.
Blessed,
Patty
